To get an understanding of Barack Obama’s foreign policy you must read Hillary Clinton’s Confirmation Hearing speech. Here is the transcript for your information.

So Barack Obama did it and, like everyone else, I must congratulate him on simply the most electrifying political campaigning the US and perhaps the world has ever seen. Impressive, there is no other way of saying it.

The reaction by the world and its media has shown that Obama’s quest for ‘change’ has resonated not only in the US but globally and, most importantly to me, in the UK. Why is this a good thing? Well it is my humble opinion that this will change the game with the British public likely to engage more with politics and demand even more from their politicians. The old boredom game of party politics is unlikely to work in this new climate, and it is my view that the politicians that actually recognise real change and deliver on it (not just talking shop) will be the ones that gain the public’s respect and votes. We should use this wave of political innovation to our benefit, not get stuck into the old routine of tick for tack. It’s an open goal.

UPDATE: now this cracked me up!

Obviously I’m worried about the whole Russia situation. With much of the debate about the world entering a new Cold War, I’m scared about what it might mean because ultimately I’m young and don’t recall what it was like the first time around. My opinions about what happened have largely been influenced by the limited books I’ve read and the multiple films I’ve watched. Being a movie connoisseur above anything else, here are my top five Cold War films. Any other suggestions?

War Games
Dr. Strangelove
Hunt for Red October
Red Dawn
From Russia With Love

Olympic time is around again, and despite all the political and other issues relating to China I will still be watching the games with a keen interest. Not only do I simply love sport but I also have two friends from university representing Great Britain in the rowing. Good luck Alex (Partridge) and Carla (Ashford), do our nation proud!

Dwain Chambers doesn’t need lawyers, he needs PR. General public feeling towards his Olympic bid is negative, and this has obviously been influenced by a media that is generally negative towards his efforts. I’m not a fan, and I have no doubt in my mind he should be banned, but a suitable PR strategy would have helped repair some of the damage he did to his and his sport’s reputation.
