After Al Gore was given the Nobel Peace Prize last week I thought it was about time that I watched his documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, so I saw it on Sunday. Ultimately I needed an antidote to all the great things going on in my life right now, things are all too rosy.

Although the film has been criticised for not being 100% factually correct, two things are obviously true:

1. We take our planet for granted

2. It is suffering as a consequence

Today is Blog Action Day, a day in which bloggers are required to blog about the environment, to help spread the word that action must be taken to improve our planet’s situation…

Bloggers Unite - Blog Action Day

I have been as naive as the next person and I really hope that my outlook on the planet and its resources are changing. In Al Gore’s movie he talks about how when walks along he notices that people are care free. While this is mostly true I am of the optimistic opinion that since the movie came out such a short time ago, people have already started to think a lot more about the environment, and all we need now is to turn this into proper action. In history Al Gore could be seen as one of the most important political campaigners, more so than bloody Alan Johnson. Obesity can’t be compared to the securing of the future of Planet Earth, it really can’t.
