We are beginning to see some worrying developments between Russia and the West. According to a Times article a few weeks back Putin is effectively picking a fight with many neighbours and many of the great western powers. Russia is threatening to target missiles at Europe following the news that the US plans to install a missile defence shield in Poland. The former Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, has put the blame on the US for the current state of relations between Russia and the West; in my opinion he does have an argument. This is all very worrying because there is an air of blame surrounding it all. Diplomacy is built on the fact that nothing will ever be solved if sides blames each other, have we not learned from past errors?!

My suggestion? Tony Blair has a few more works to impress and improve his legacy. This is the prime opportunity for him to contribute to diplomacy and save us from what could potentially be another Cold War; this should be his priority. And somehow I don’t think Gordon Brown will have the same success.

I’m sure most of you have sampled the new Facebook applications. If you haven’t done so yet, you are seriously missing out. Here are two I like thus far:

1. Last.fm – If you install this application, you can make a radio station of all the musicians you list in your profile. Now that rocks!

2. Meebo – I’ve installed the Meebo app so that you can chat to/IM me anytime I’m logged on, which is most of the day!

I’m sure there are other gems out there too, stay tuned!

1. Neville Hobson – Bruce Willis a great sport in Second Life. A great marketing technique considering Die Hard 4’s baddies are a group of hackers

2. Read/Write Web – Technology and Terrorism: Are we being too naive?

3. Techcrunch – Facebook Polls: Don’t Mention The Competition. Another new service from Facebook

4. Mashable – Digg Expanding to Images, Restaurant and Product Reviews

5. Business Week – The Twitterization of Blogs

6. IHT – Interactive sites serve young Internet users, in particular preteen girls

7. Sunday Times – Thinking is so over. An anti stance on Web 2.0, it is apparently dumbing down society
